About Dr. Burley

Welcome - and thank you for visiting.
In private practice I work primarily with adults presenting with a variety of problems and concerns.
I use evidence-based practices in an integrative way, meaning I adapt and tailor treatment for each individual based on personal preferences, inherent strengths, and psychological needs. My style and approach is quite relational/warm, and I often incorporate principles of mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical-behavioral theories/interventions into the practice of psychotherapy. I believe that in order for a therapy to be truly helpful or healing, a client must feel safe within the therapeutic relationship. It is this alliance that sets the foundation for the work, and is ultimately a catalyst for change.
Although I am experienced in treating many different issues, I have special interest and expertise in the treatment of disordered eating, maladaptive coping behaviors, and other often co-occurring mood(depressive) and anxiety disorders.
In addition to my private practice in Wellesley, MA, I am also a Teaching Associate at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital, in Primary Care Behavioral Health Integration. My role there includes providing consultation to physicians/interdisciplinary providers, and training/supervising medical and psychology interns/fellows. The integration of primary care and behavioral health is a mission I wholeheartedly support given the hope of increasing access to mental health services, de-stigmatizing psychological issues, and expanding overall definitions of "health" to include both the body and the mind.
